GAWLEY HYDROGEN PROJECT – SOUTH AUSTRALIA
The Gawler Hydrogen Project is Prominence Energy’s flagship natural hydrogen and helium portfolio, spanning approximately 64,000 km² across the Gawler Craton and the northern Adelaide Hinge Zone in South Australia. The project combines large-scale acreage with disciplined geological targeting, focused on Archean radiogenic granites, localised mineralisation zones, and deep-seated crustal structures capable of generating and transporting hydrogen and helium over geological time. Recent technical work across PEL 803 has materially de-risked the system, confirming multiple hydrogen source rocks, viable migration pathways, and several reservoir–seal pairings in favourable stratigraphic configurations.
Gawler is being advanced through a deliberately capital-efficient exploration model. Prominence is prioritising integrated soil-gas and groundwater geochemical surveys to validate subsurface interpretations, establish baseline conditions, and map near-surface hydrogen and helium anomalies before committing to drilling. Field mobilisation is scheduled for early 2026, positioning the project to transition from desktop evaluation to systematic field validation. With a diversified play portfolio across the Eyre and Northern Hinge sub-projects, Gawler provides multiple technical pathways to success while reducing single-asset risk and supporting the company’s objective of progressing low-cost, scalable natural hydrogen as a practical contributor to Australia’s energy transition.
